Initiate Flux Cumulus Testnet node

Image
Initiating Flux Cumulus Testnet node We are preparing our  Mini PC  for FluxNode Testnet deployment We will go ahead and initiate this step early on since it takes  100 Flux blockchain confirmations  before we can activate the  FluxNode  and this, in turn, can take 3-4 hours currently. 1. Download this Beta version of ZelCore Wallet  and set up a test wallet 2. Log in to Zelcore Beta, go to a wallet > Manage Assets > Add Assets and add Flux Test Coin 3. Click the Flux Test Coin and click Receive. Copy the wallet address by clicking the QR code 4. Go to #testnet-requestcoins on Flux Discord, post your F lux Test Coin  wallet address and ask for 1000 coins (12500, or 40,000 for Nimbus and Stratus, respectively). 5. Once one of the admins confirms the coins sent, go back to your wallet and make sure a new OFFLINE node is present in Apps > FluxNodes  Your FluxNode on Testnet is now being confirmed on the blockchain so we now move...

Thunder FluxNode (Cumulus Fractus) Installation Steps

Thunder FluxNode (Cumulus Fractus) Installation Steps Note: This guide is currently made for Testnet and will be updated when Thunder launches on Mainnet Get Hardware:  Source Cumulus hardware and 10TB HDD for Thunder Step 1.  Initiate Flux Cumulus node  (For Testnet) Step 2.  Create a Bootable Ubuntu USB Flash Drive Step 3.  Set up PC BIOS for FluxNode Step 4.  Install Ubuntu for FluxOS Step 5. Setup FluxNode Networking, Router, and Firewall Step 6. Upgrade Cumulus FluxNode Hardware to Thunder (Cumulus-Fractus) Step 7. Install FluxOS Testnet for Thunder

Upgrade Cumulus FluxNode to Thunder (Cumulus-Fractus)

Upgrade Cumulus   FluxNode Hardware to Thunder (Cumulus-Fractus) Power down the Cumulus PC we set up in the preceding tutorial Insert the SATA Hard Drive into the SATA to USB3 Adapter dock Connect the dock to the back of the HP 600 G1 Micro PC  via USB 3 port ad connect the adapter power Power on the PC and log into Ubuntu At the shell prompt copy/paste the following: sudo fdisk -l Make note of the disks (Ignore Disk /dev/loop x , we just need /dev/sd x ). In my case, the output in part contained the following: Disk /dev/sda: 10.94 TiB, 12000138625024 bytes, 23437770752 sectors Disk model: G Disk /dev/sdb: 238.49 GiB, 256060514304 bytes, 500118192 sectors Disk model: SSD 256GB The disk we are looking for is the one with 10TiB capacity, in my case /dev/sda the /dev/sdb in my case  is the primary SSD drive containing the Bootable Ubuntu system Run the following commands one at a time (be sure to substitute /dev/sda with your 10TB drive name):  sudo parted /dev/sda mk...

Thunder FluxNode (Cumulus Fractus) Build Under $250!

Thunder FluxNode (Cumulus Fractus) Build Under $250! In the last post, I covered  how to build your very own Cumulus FluxNode for under $100 . In this article, I will describe how to build the new upcoming Thunder FluxNode (Cumulus Fractus) for an additional $120-$150! The Flux team announced a new node tier group Project Thunder, for a mass-storage solution that will be capable of hosting more dApps on the network. As of this writing, only the Cumulus variety (Cumulus-Fractus), specifications are known. The cumulus nodes are currently earning around 20% APY on staked Flux. With Thunder, the node operators will be able to earn more Flux to be determined at a later date. Flux Cumulus  Fractus   Node Requirements: Staking Requirement: 1000 FLUX for node staking Hardware Requirements: 2 Cores 4 Threads 8 GB RAM 9200 GB HHD partition (10TB or higher drive) 80 MB/s DWS (Disk Write Speed) 240 EPS (CPU Events Per Second) 100 Mb/s download/upload speed VPS and ARM64 c...

FluxNode Downtime Monitoring

Image
FluxNode Downtime Monitoring Step 7 of Flux CUMULUS Node Setup We are preparing our  Mini PC  for FluxNode deployment   This is perhaps the most important step of the FluxNode setup. A reliable downtime monitoring for your FluxOS node is absolutely essential ! Unfortunately, when the Flux node goes down, Watchdog pretty much becomes useless. ZelCore will show Node is CONFIRMED, even when the benchmarks have failed and you won't find out about it until it is too late and you lose your place in the payout queue. Nothing worse than running your node for 15+ days only to find out that it went down without your knowledge and has been down for 3 hours, and you are at the back of the 15+ day line with no Flux to show for it! It is still useful to set up Discord notifications to keep an eye on Benchmark issues, FluxOS updates, and other events that happen while the node is operational. How to setup more reliable FluxNode Monitoring 1. Go to  UptimeRobot  and...

FluxNode Networking, Router, and Firewall Setup

Image
FluxNode  Networking, Router, and  Firewall  Setup  Step 5 of Flux CUMULUS Node Setup We are preparing our  Mini PC  for FluxNode deployment  Q: What is a good router/gateway I can use with FluxNode? A. There are plenty of consumer-grade routers that are sold that can work with FlunxNode but if you want a reliable and more advanced router that gives you a ton of flexibility with not just FluxNode but with getting your networking under total control, I would consider a Mini PC designed to run a firewall such as pFsense 1. Access your internet router's web interface and look for an option for either of these terms or similar - this may vary based on your router brand:  DHCP Server Address Reservation ,  DHCP Reservations ,  DHCP Leases , etc. Basically, the DHCP Server option, where we get to tie the MAC address of your HP Flux Node to a specific IP, so that it is always reserved for your node and automatically assigned by the rou...
