FluxNode Downtime Monitoring
FluxNode Downtime Monitoring
Step 7 of Flux CUMULUS Node Setup
We are preparing our Mini PC for FluxNode deployment
This is perhaps the most important step of the FluxNode setup. A reliable downtime monitoring for your FluxOS node is absolutely essential! Unfortunately, when the Flux node goes down, Watchdog pretty much becomes useless.
ZelCore will show Node is CONFIRMED, even when the benchmarks have failed and you won't find out about it until it is too late and you lose your place in the payout queue.
Nothing worse than running your node for 15+ days only to find out that it went down without your knowledge and has been down for 3 hours, and you are at the back of the 15+ day line with no Flux to show for it! It is still useful to set up Discord notifications to keep an eye on Benchmark issues, FluxOS updates, and other events that happen while the node is operational.
2. If you prefer phone alert monitoring instead of just email, download the UptimeRobot app (scroll down once on the website for app links for iOS and Android) and log in on your device.
3. Select Add New Monitor to set up general server downtime monitoring
Monitor Type: HTTP(s)
Friendly Name: Fluxnode1
URL (or IP): http://212.123.45.67:16126/
Above you will specify your public IP followed by the port (Replace the IP above with your own public IP and FluxNode port defined earlier)

URL (or IP): http://212.123.45.67:16126/
Above you will specify your public IP followed by the port (Replace the IP above with your own public IP and FluxNode port defined earlier)
Monitor Interval: every 5 minutes
Monitor Timeout: in 30 seconds
Select Alert Contact as your email and/or your phone where you installed the app
4. Select Add New Monitor to set up Benchmarking problem monitoring
Monitor Type: Keyword
Friendly Name: Fluxnode1 Benchmark
URL (or IP): http://212.123.45.67:16127/benchmark/getstatus
Above you will specify your public IP followed by the port (Replace the IP above with your own public IP). You will notice that we will be monitoring port 16127 instead of 16126. this is because it's the only way to get the benchmark status from the outside
Keyword: "status":"online","benchmarking":"CUMULUS","flux":"connected"
Change above from CUMULUS to NIMBUS or STRATUS, depending on your FluxNode tier
Case-Insensitive: Checked

5. Next, we will monitor your node for earnings and its place in the queue.
Go to your ZelCore and copy your Flux wallet address where your collateral was staked earlier. Point your web browser to:
https://paoverview.app.runonflux.io/?address=YOUR_FLUX_ADDRESS_HERE
I hope this how-to has been helpful!
